Solidarity with resisting Refugees in Turkey

حمایت از افغانهای پناهجو در ترکیه

Today we painted a lot of banners. The sad news of the death of Muslim reached us, but we also got the message of resisting refugees. Not just in Mexico people go to the streets to demand freedom and a safe, human place to life, but also in Ankara in Turkey.

The turkish nation stopped the progress of the asylum requests of the refugees from Afghanistan. They don’t say yes, they don’t say no. The people need to continue waiting, with no status, always labeled as asylum seeker and always with the fear of being deported back, to the place where one escaped from. The turkish government refuse to continue the procedure. The refugees from Afghanistan are already longer resisting against this practice. They organized themselves before in Istanbul. Since some time they also protest against the UNHCR, because the UNHCR ignores the inhuman situation ot the afghan refugees in Turkey.

A part of the group of afghan refugees are in hunger strike for 7 weeks. They also sewed their mouths to underline the seriousness of their struggle. They protest in front of the UNHCR building. The population supports them. They get food and material, like blankets from the neighborhood.

Respect the human rights. Don’t ignore and exclude people because of their origin.

We will not stay silent if this treatment continues.

Migration is not a crime.

WE ARE ONE!

Merzig, 31th May 2014 Solidarity with Marchs and Caravans in Mexico

_MG_1842

Short History:
The first caravan called "Caravana Viacrus Migrante" was
organized by the migrants of "La 72 in Tenosique" they
started marching at the beginning of the holy week and
crossed the whole country, from Guatemala to the border
of United States. Just a couple of days after the
caravan started marching the train workers did not
allow migrants to get on the train. So the caravan split
in two.
One part marched to Mexico City to have an interview
with the president and the other one
tried to get to United States by their own means.

The ones that marched to Mexico City arrived safely,
had an interview with a government official, and
received a 30 day visa to travel trough Mexico and
get to United States. The other part of the caravan
got caught and deported very fast.

61 migrants of the caravan that got to the US border
asked political asylum and now their cases are being
checked. The rest of the people are in different migrant
shelters and will try to cross illegally the border.
Sadly one of them died trying to cross the Bravo river
(natural border between both countries).

The second caravan called "Caravana por el Libre Tránsito"
is organized by "Hermanos en el Camino in Ixtepec" they
announce the departure of the march two weeks ago
but it has been delayed due to threats of deportation
by the mexican government.
--------------------------------------------------------
They had announce a new date of departure:
1st of June at 11 am
--------------------------------------------------------
NO BORDER CROSSING IS ILLEGAL
MARCH FOR FREEDOM IS IN FULL SOLIDARITY WITH MARCHS AND
CARAVANS IN MEXICO
WE ARE ONE, FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT FOR EVERYBODY EVERYWHERE

We are on the way to Freedom!

(weiter unten in deutsch…)

On the 17th of May we crossed the first border. 400 refugees, migrants, non-citizens, sans papiers and non-affected people in solidarity crossed the Europe Bridge from Kehl to Strasbourg.
One day after the European elections we took back our human right. We marched publicly across the border between France and Germany to Saarbrücken. We used the two days in our protest camp in Saarbrücken to make our demands public with a demonstration and a theatre. In the Lager in Lebach close by, where hundreds of people are living under inhumane conditions, we loudly expressed our solidarity. We had a spontaneous demonstration at the Bundesamt für Migration und Flüchtlinge, which is located in the Lager. Those responsible for the terrible situation of refugees in Europe shall feel our rage!

Mobilize in the Lagers!
Transport refugees to the protest march and back!
Organize solidarity actions!

Our demands are:

  • Freedom of movement and free choice of residence for all
  • Stop of the Dublin-trap and forced accomodation in Lagers in Europe
  • Permanent, unconditional residence permit
  • Stop imprisonment and deportation of migrants
  • Equal political, social and cultural rights for all: right of education and work
  • Same working conditions for all
  • Stop European imperialist policy: no more free trade treaties and NATO wars
  • Abolish FRONTEX, EUROSUR and other anti-migration policies and measures

The next stops of the March for Freedom are:

Solidarity Statement from Mexico via Berlin

México vía Berlín e. V. in solidarity with Caravana Viacrucis del Migrante, Caravana por la Libertad de Tránsito, March for Freedom and all the migrants and refugees on the planet.
The process of globalization has enabled goods and services to travel over the entire planet. However, no opportunity is given for people in this process to change their place of residency. Given the ease with which individuals can move, the answer of the States was to tighten up migration laws. Continue reading
